While there have been many skeptics in the last couple of years about the validity of global warming, it has become a generally accepted fact - at least on Smith Campus - that carbon emissions and fossil fuels have disrupted the natural progression of weather and have led to the phenomena we call global warming.

Over the past three years, I, like any other self-respecting UConn undergrad, have grown to hate the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Whether it was the 66-21 drubbing the UConn football team received in Morgantown the year they were crowned Co-Big East champions or Joe Alexander and the Mountaineers knocking the Huskies out in the 2008 Big East basketball tournament, I developed a deep and undying hatred for everything West Virginian.

Senator Joseph I. Lieberman (DI-CT) refused to meet with demonstrators staging an impromptu sit-in at his office on Capitol Hill Thursday that ended with the arrest of nine individuals, one of whom was a UConn student.
"When Lieberman came out against the [health care] bill, we thought 'okay it's time to step it up,'" said Jason Ortiz, a 6th-semester communications major and president of the UConn ACLU.

Bridgewater State College does not allow postings which advocate the use of alcohol or illegal substances. This is a viewpoint biased policy, and it seems to me that it is unconstitutional for that reason. Even if it is not unconstitutional, I will argue that it should be removed.

Picture this: you are on an airplane preparing for takeoff with your two-year-old son - who won't stop screaming. It could be because he's scared of the loud noises the engines are making, he's hungry or he would just rather walk up and down the aisle than be strapped into a seat against his will.

The Sophian has mixed feelings about Otelia Cromwell Day. We think it is important as a memorial and a symbol but think that, as an event, it has been mismanaged. The day seems to have self-congratulatory motives, while the events simply "preach to the choir" - the people who are interested in diversity and who support diversity causes on campus are the only ones who show up, other than those required to attend for a class.

Although you'll never stumble upon it by accident, SooRa Restaurant has been serving a steady base of customers who have found their way to the Roundhouse Plaza.
Quite frankly, I'm not so sure why. The service is barely existant, there's an odd smell hanging around, the staff doesn't appear all that perky, and most importantly, the food is as memorable as Paris Hilton's credibility.

Paris's bicycle rental system, Vélib', which was imposed to inspire environmental awareness, is now facing the harsh reality of vandalism and corruption. Vélib' bicycles are primarily used by Parisians commuting around the city. One simply needs to swipe a credit card at an electric docking station to receive a bicycle for a specified amount of time.

On March 13, 1964, Kitty Genovese was stabbed to death in the courtyard outside of her Queens apartment. Many neighbors and passers-by saw the violent act and chose not to do anything. One bystander usually assumes another person is going to alert authorities or go and get help.
