A news editor for the Justice was asked to resign his post after he decided to run for a student government office, the paper said Monday. Justin Sulsky '09, who was the Justice's primary reporter on Student Union politics for much of his time at the paper, stepped down Friday to pursue a position as Senator of the Class of 2009.

Senior editors at the paper decided the potential conflicts of interest that could arise from allowing an actively campaigning student to edit news articles were too great to allow Sulsky retain his post.

"Remaining as unbiased as possible is among the Justice's top priorities and

we are committed to taking any action necessary to maintain our integrity," the paper's managing editor, Abra Lyons-Warren '07, said in a statement. "Even the perception of bias is cause for concern and was enough reason for Sulsky to resign."

The paper left open the possibility that Sulsky could return if he failed to win office. Staff members of the Justice are not permitted to be members of the Union.
