The Free Play Club was named New Club of the Year; Students for Environmental Action was named Innovative Club of the Year; and Positive Foundations was named Club of the Year.
Senate, Finance Board and Union Judiciary officers were sworn in.
There was a debate over whether seniors could continue to vote after the new Senate had been sworn in, due to a conflict in the constitution. The Union Judiciary determined that representation for all class years was more important than old terms ending at the end-of-year inauguration ceremony.
Provost Marty Krauss spoke to the Union about her general projects. She announced that a new dean for the International Business School has been chosen. She also said that she will add the president of the Student Union to her advisory committee on high-profile and potentially controversial events.
Senators for the Class of 2007 Laura Covey and Josh Karpoff requested and received $900 for transportation for a trip to the Sam Adams factory during senior week.
Four senators ran for executive senator: Senator-at-Large Jessica Blumberg '09, Senator-at-Large Andrew Brooks '09, Senator for Racial Minority Students Gabe Gaskin '08 and Senator for the Class of 2010 Jenna Brofsky.
After some time in executive session, Jessica Blumberg '09 won the title of executive senator.
Shreeya Sinha and other members of the Union drafted a resolution to consider action against Gravity Magazine for a racially-insensitive advertisement they ran in their most recent issue.
