Jacob Kamaras '08 became the Justice's new editor in chief last Thursday night.
He was elected by the staff and confirmed by the editorial board. Kamaras ran unapposed.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to leading the paper," Kamaras said.
Kamaras said former Editor in Chief Rachel Marder '08 improved the Justice's coverage of diversity issues. "[Marder] cared about every word that was in the paper. I learned a lot from her," he said.
Marder responded that she had the utmost confidence in Kamaras. "He's an extremely skilled editor and a dedicated leader," she said.
Kamaras wants to focus more attention on the Justice's online resources. "I want to definitely beef up the Justice's online coverage," he said. "When news comes up on Wednesday or Thursday, we have an obligation to report it to our readers then, rather than have them wait until the following Tuesday."
Kamaras joined the Justice as a sports writer in the spring of 2005. He started off covering the fencing beat, which he exchanged for covering basketball the following semester. In fall 2006, Kamaras became Sports editor.
"I am very humbled by being the editor right now," Kamaras said. "When I started off as a sports writer, I didn't see myself in the position I'm in right now."

This article is hilarious especially given the context that the now former and current editors in chief are an item. Gotta love journalistic integrity biotches!
