Union Advocate Brian Paternostro '08 reported that he would like to compile written archives of what the Union has accomplished.
Paternostro also polled the Senate to see who would be interested in joining a committee to help lobby administrators.
The Senate addressed the Resolution Regarding Future Engagement of Student Voices and voted to defeat the resolution. The resolution, brought forth by Kaamila Mohamed '11, Darren Gallant '08 and Jessica Blumberg '09, had proposed the formation of a committee in the future to address controversial and contested issues on campus and called for a more transparent decision-making process.
The Senate chartered the African Club, the goals of which include education of the student body about the African continent and culture. They recognized A Cappella Etc., a club that will serve to centralize the 11 a capella groups on campus.
Treasurer Choon Woo Ha '08 informed the Senate that he will not be resigning from his post as treasurer, after he sent out an e-mail to the Union saying he would run for the position of secretary as a joke.
Ha also reported that there will now be more funding available for club transportation and up to full funding for lodging.
Office supplies have now been given their own separate category, and there will be more funds available for club decorations. In the spring semester, clubs will not be allowed to charge admission for events that are funded by the Finance board.
The Senate approved the non-Senate chair of the Social Justice Committee.
The Senate passed a request to table resolution #2-F07 indefinitely. The resolution was regarding the proposed censure of Transitional Year Program Senator Kamarin Lee regarding the content of an e-mail sent on the Senate listserv.
