Though the weather outside is frightful, your style doesn't have to be! This pre-winter season calls for bundling up and getting ready for the cold weather. However, bundling up usually leads to bulking up. No one wants to look like she ate too much pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving if she doesn't have to. When layering, make sure to wear lighter fabrics and top outfits off with a trendy cropped sweater, which will flatter almost any body type.

If you're opting for thicker materials and pieces such as the fluffy wool sweater your grandmother knit you last Hanukah, add some pizzazz by applying a thick belt at the waist to accentuate your body's shape. This look would be compatible with a pair of wide-leg jeans (or skinny jeans if that's more your style). Many styles today look great on a wide range of bodies. Babydoll dresses and sweater minidresses look amazing when paired with leggings or thick tights and worn with riding boots or flats. Look for cuts that accentuate the waist and have an A-line cut and fall to midthigh. These types of outfits are easy and accessible, especially if you're the type of student who likes to roll out of bed and run to class.

But just because you got ready in five minutes doesn't mean you have to look like it. Stay away from the "flannel pajamas and a Brandeis sweatshirt" look. It never was in style and never will be. It's very easy to pretend that this look is acceptable on a tolerant campus like Brandeis', but you're simply underestimating your true potential. Classic outfits are always your best bet. If you're in the mood to funk your ensemble up a bit, add accessories such as a colored or textured bag (patent leather and velvet are hot sellers), a warm scarf, a thick bangle bracelet and a knit beanie. Just remember to dress comfortably for sitting and studying for hours. Coco Chanel always said, "Luxury must be comfortable; otherwise, it is not luxury."
