Third Eye Blind-the 1990s rock band known for such hits as 1997's "Semi-Charmed Life" and 1999's "Jumper"-will perform at Brandeis Saturday, March 22.

The concert is Student Events' big spring semester concert. Springfest, a Student Events and WBRS co-sponsored music festival, will by a daytime event taking place on?Sunday, April 6. No bands for that festival have been announced.

Although Student Events maintained that the identity of the spring concert band was a secret until announcing it last week, a widely circulated rumor correctly naming Third Eye Blind the spring concert reached many students as early as a month before.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. at the Shapiro?Gym in the Gosman Sports and Convocation Center. Tickets are $10 for students and go on sale on March 5. Tickets for off-campus attendees are $20.

The band has a history of touring colleges; they headlined Harvard's YardFest last April and performed at Babson College that same month. After their Brandeis appearance, the band plans to perform at other New England colleges such as Williams, Amherst and State University of New York at Oswego.

The band's most recent album, 2003's Out of the Vein, sold only 500,000 copies; after its previous two albums, which sold six million and two million respectively, Out of the Vein was considered a disappointment. An upcoming release, The Hideous Strength, is expected to come out later this year, despite an original 2007 release date.
