Union plans large event to improve social life

Union Director of Campus Life Christina Khemraj '09 reported on her plan to organize a large social event in cooperation with more than 40 clubs in order to explore to what extent guaranteed funding and large-scale publicity has a positive effect on campus parties and could improve social life.
The Senate didn't come to an agreement to pass a budget because of internal disagreements and disagreements with the treasurer and Executive Board over funding of Khemraj's project. The Senate passed a continuing resolution $2,000 to keep government operations running and tabled further budget debate until the next meeting.
The Senate confirmed Senator for the Foster Mods Tania Kupferman '08 as the new chairwoman of the Club Support Committee. She reported that an instructor will be hired soon to teach a biochemistry lab class.
Representatives to the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Adi Schmuel '08 and Zachary Pyle '09 said the business minor has been renewed for seven years.
Union Secretary Nelson Rutrick '09 reported that the election for off-campus senator has been postponed until today because of a technical problem. The second round in the election for justice of the Union Judiciary will be held Tuesday.
The Senate recognized the Help Cats club. The Senate also recognized the Self-Defense club and the Breakdance club.
The Senate chartered the Advocates for Event Education with Police Instruction club.
The Senate approved a bylaw change specifying that the Union president appoint Senate committee chairs at the end of each semester to improve efficiency.
The Senate approved Senate Money Resolutions of $45 for an online map of Boston and $50 for a midyear ice cream social.
The Senate tabled until the next meeting a bylaw change requiring clubs to attend a meeting with the Club Support Committee before coming before the Senate.
