Senate congratulates TYP on its 40 year anniversary

Chief of Elections for Round I Zachary Pyle '09 reported to the Union Senate that the Elections Commission had received many complaints about campaigning styles.
The representatives to the Alumni Association reported that B-Connect, a Facebook-style online service for Brandeis alumni, has been launched.
Sustainability Coordinator Janna Cohen-Rosenthal '03 and Students for Environmental Action President Stephanie Sofer '09 reported on ongoing projects, such as an end-of-year donation drive in the dorms to reduce waste during move-out days, the establishment of a sustainability plan for the University and a plan to raise awareness of the use of to-go containers in Usdan this Thursday.
Associate Dean for Student Life Maggie Balch presented the judicial process governing student conduct violations to the Senate.
The Senate chartered TBA, an interactive improvisation comedy and improv inspired sketch comedy group.
Jeremy Krell '09, Director of Sales for Dormaid and President of Dormaid at Brandeis, gave a presentation to the Senate on services the company intends to offer through the Student Services Bureau. Due to an existing contractual obligation on the part of the SSB, the company is proposing that it offer its linen service through the endorsement of the Union, with the Union receiving 30 percent of the service's profits.
The Senate dechartered 28 clubs that did not respond to a yearly request to fill out the club renewal survey.
The Senate passed a resolution commending the 40-year anniversary of the Transitional Year Program and calling for an expansion of the program's social elements with other scholarly groups on campus as a model.
The Senate passed a bylaw requiring that organizations seeking accreditation hold an organizational meeting prior to going before the Senate.
