Though the Leonard Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts saw its first event at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a theater performance titled "Collaboration in Progress," the opening ceremony began at 5 p.m. in Spingold's Dreitzer Gallery. Students and faculty alike descended upon the art gallery to devour the free hors d'oeuvres and drinks and to cast their eyes upon recent works by postbaccalaureate students in studio art. Provost Marty Krauss gave opening remarks around 6 p.m. as showgoers stood among the artworks.

Many Ryan Pressman's G'08 paintings featured men in various situations. "Untitled," below right, captures the melancholy air that characterized many of his works.

"The Greatest Gift," by James Wheaton G'08 (below left) caught many eyes, with its prominent location in the middle of the gallery. A woman appearing to fellate a bunch of lettuce against her will certainly raises questions and eyebrows.

Sarah Lubin's G'08 works often incorporated elephants, as in "Elephas Maximus Ludicus," above right. Another painting, entitled "After the Circus," continued the elephant theme.
