Joanna Schorr '10 became the Justice's new editor in chief Tuesday April 15.
She was elected by the staff and confirmed by the editorial board. Schorr ran unopposed.
Schorr, who most recently served as deputy editor, said she is invested in diversifying the Justice staff. She also wants to improve coverage and expand the content of the newspaper each week.
Former Editor in Chief Jacob Kamaras '08 said he is very confident with Schorr's ability to lead the paper in the future.
"[Schorr] has an effective command of the newsroom," Kamaras said.
He said Schorr's background in layout will be helpful during the production process, since the editor in chief is the last person to see the pages before they go to print.
Schorr said she wants the community to view the Justice with a "positive eye" and understand that the newspaper is working for its readership.
She said it is for the benefit of the community that the Justice works as many hours as it does.
Schorr joined the Justice as part of the layout staff in the fall of 2006. She moved into the position of layout editor in spring of 2007 and worked as an associate editor and then deputy editor until her recent election.
"I think it's going to be a great experience, and I am looking forward to working on such a fantastic newspaper," Schorr said.
