Executive Senator and Senator for the Class of 2009 Eric Alterman swore in Adam Hughes '11 as Student Union Vice President.

Senator for the Class of 2011 Lev Hirschhorn reported that the Finance Board is not allocating clubs the $50 booking fee Chums requires from them for coffee houses despite doing so last year. He said he intended to look into the situation.

Union Communications Coordinator Jamie Ansorge '09 reported that Senior Vice President for Students and Enrollment Jean Eddy seemed receptive to the Union Executive Board's call for a large-scale review of the Health Center, as the University's contract with Beth Israel Hospital is up for renewal. He urged complaints about the Health Center to be reported to Union President Jason Gray '10.

Ansorge reported that discussions with the administration with regard to the Student Bill of Rights were ongoing as to whether it should be a Student Union document or reconciled with the Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.

Union Director of Executive Affairs Jessica Blumberg '09 reported that Director of Student Development and Conduct Erika Lamarre established a committee to investigate covered fire detectors on campus.

Ansorge presented a report by Gray to Eddy with several proposals to reduce water bottles on campus. Gray wrote that students should still have the personal choice to buy water bottles on campus. He proposed eliminating water bottles at campus events and Usdan effective immediately and eliminating them from EinsteinBros. Bagels effective December 2008.

Ansorge reported that a meeting with students who wish to establish an Activist Resource Center last week will be part of a larger effort by the E-Board to reevaluate the space available on campus to clubs for storage and other needs.

Ansorge reported that the E-Board wants to start a dialogue on campus about the Amethyst Initiative, under which 129 universities have signed a petition to lower the drinking age.

The Senate recognized the Wiffle Ball Club.
