Student Philanthropic Front group recognized

The Senate unanimously passed an Emergency Money Resolution of $500 to assist students from the Transitional Year Program, the Posse Program, the Anthropology Department, the Men of Color Alliance, the Women of Color Alliance and the Intercultural Center who have been working with the Prospect Hill Terrace Tennant Association to establish a Community Center.
Union Treasurer Max Wallach '09 reported that the newspaper program offering The New York Times, the Boston Globe and USA Today free to students would restart on Oct. 13.
Union Communications Director Jamie Ansorge '09 reported that Student Union Preisdent Jason Gray's '10 State of the Union would take place on November 17.
Senator-at-Large Justin Sulsky '09 reported that the dining committee would lobby to increase items available with C-Meals such as sandwiches or salads.
North Quad Senator Andrew Hogan '11 reported that he wanted to help plan a walk around campus with students to test cell phone reception with different providers.
The Senate recognized the Student Philanthropic Front, which plans to raise and donate money to humanitarian causes. They will first donate to a project that will bring electricity to a sacred valley in Peru.
Greg Jones, Coordinator of Residential Operations, discussed the room selection process for the new Ridgewood apartments. Jones encouraged the Senate to spread awareness of the apartments by informing people of the Web page found on the Resident Life Web site.
Senator for the Class of 2012 Supreetha Gubbala was elected Chair of the Services Committee.
Senator for the Class of 2010 Rebecca L. Wilkof was elected Chair for the newly formed Outreach Committee.
Senator for the Castle Nathan Robinson '11 is working with the Senate's Bicycle Task Force to discuss the logistics of bikes on campus.
Senator for Racial Minorities Kamarin Lee '12 is working with a Community Prejudice Report Task Force to find different ways of dealing with prejudice on campus.
