Union to write a proposal to reduce campus energy

The Senate passed a resolution calling to increase the time that evidence submitted to the University Board of Student Development and Conduct on the day of a hearing can be reviewed by the other side to 24 hours, instead of the UBSC determining the amount of time in every separate case.
Former Union Vice President Alex Braver '09 announced that the Student Information Technology Committee would be holding a meeting and asked for input. Senator-at-Large Justin Sulsky '09 noted that Comcast had removed MSNBC and a few other channels from the channel lineup. Ziv Quad Senator Andrew Brooks '09 asked about the possibility of adding HBO.
Former Senator for the Class of 2010 Jenna Brofsky, coordinator of the Student Dining Committee, reported that Dining Services would be identifying trans fat-free cookies with stickers. Senators expressed concerns about insufficient inventory of dining services such as the absence of ice cream, coleslaw and vegetables from various dining stations.
Union Secretary Tia Chatterjee '09 reported that a new Union Web site should be up by the beginning of next semester.
Union Director of Community Development Ryan McElhaney '10 reported that he had finished a review of space usage on campus with Director of Student Activities Stephanie Grimes.
Union President Jason Gray '10 reported that the committee meeting to review meal plans has been rescheduled.
Gray reported that 20 applications have been received for the Committee on Endowment Ethics and Responsibility so far. He reported that the Budget Advisory Group would meet this coming week.
Gray said he hoped that by Thanksgiving the Health Center would develop a tangible action plan to be reviewed in addition to six problems the Union previously identified.
Union Vice President Adam Hughes '11 reported that he is writing a proposal for a campus-wide energy-decreasing initiative in response to the recent lecture by author Thomas Friedman '75, under which the Union and the administration would split the energy savings and invest them toward improving sustainability.
Senator for the Class of 2009 Sung Lo Yoon reported that the George Washington Club would be up for review after its 10-week charter next week.
Sulsky reported that Einstein's would offer more caffeine-free beverages, more chewing gum and kosher gummy bears.
Transitional Year Program Senator Terrence Johnson reported that an expansion of the laundry room in Cable looked possible after talks with administrators.
