In response to your article "Acceptance rate up 8 percent" (April 7 issue): Just to add some specifics/perspective, many other schools that are small and excellent like Brandeis have experienced similar or more severe declines this year in total applicants. For example, according to press reports, Williams College is down 20 percent, Middlebury is down 12 percent, Bates and Colby are each down 7 percent, etc. Clearly, it's the fault of the economy.
